These breath-taking paintings have a story behind them that you might find interesting.  Mr. Doares, an avid photographer, took many photos as he drove though the picturesque North Carolina countryside during the 1970s.  He selected a few of his personal favorite photos to be the subjects of his Millennium series of paintings.   Those who have seen the original photos and compared them with the paintings have been amazed at how closely the paintings represent the original images, right down to the number of leaves on the trees!
